I love these simple cat climbing shelves posted over at Saucy Dwellings. They used Ikea Lack shelves with a custom made shelf that wraps around the corner and leads to a window shelf over the front door. Brilliant!

How do you make the wrap-around shelf?
I have a question re the small LACK shelf. It doesnt come with a secure bracket like the long LACK shelf. I noticed that it only is attached by two screws. It doesn’t look sturdy enough. How did you secure the shelf to the wall? I have a gyprock wall.
Thanks for your time.
I don’t trust the hardware that comes with the LACK shelves, it’s not meant to withstand the kind of use that cat shelves get, so I reinforce the LACK shelves with extra decorative brackets below, but this does ruin the floating shelf look. The best bet would be to find a local builder or handyman and get their advice on how to construct sturdy floating shelves specifically for your walls, if that’s really the look you’re going for.
