Looking for some stimulating entertainment for your cat? Well, the Flitter Fly Electronic Cat Toy is a brilliant invention that will keep kitty engaged for as long as the batteries last.
The Flitter Fly from Petlinks is a clear plastic bowl with a fan in the bottom. The blades of the fan are made from thin, flexible plastic — just strong enough to create a whirlwind but gentle enough not to harm paws when they go inside. Actually, if a paw or a finger does touch the fan it stops spinning, too. The Flitter Fly comes with a packet including feathers, catnip and glittery butterflies. You dump the packet into the bowl, press the button and watch the action. The fan speeds up and slows down on its own, creating an airflow that whirls the contest around inside, causing kitty fascination. The toy shuts off automatically after 10 minutes.
I found that the feathers fly out of the bowl almost immediately, and the catnip kind of makes a mess, but the idea of using catnip is interesting, adding a scent attractant to the toy, but I’d use some fresher catnip than what comes with the toy. The glittery butterflies are, however, beyond perfect for this application. They flit around inside the bowl, creating awesome sparkly visual stimulation. The toy runs on three AA batteries, which are included in the box. Just pop them in the bottom and you’re ready to roll!
Now that’s some serious Cat TV action! Look at how enthralled they all are. This is a great toy for adding some visual stimulation to your cat’s environment!
And here’s Ando demonstrating for you:
The Flitter Fly is available from Amazon, Petco.com, and Petsmart.com for under $30.
These would be especially wonderful for cats living in urban environments far from nature.
Are the fan blades super soft? Or does the fan have a sensor that realizes when kitty paws are in there?
Cool idea! My cat loves the Cat TV out the window, but this would be a fun alternative for those nighttime restless times when I am too tired or busy to play “bird” with her. Just have to keep those cool little butterflies away from the dog…
