Does your cat experience whisker stress? Maybe you’ve noticed him pulling food out of the bowl and eating it on the ground, or does she only eat out of the center of the bowl and leave food around the edges? Some cats can even pace around the bowl, hungry but not eating, or even get aggressive with other animals in the house during meal time. These are all signs of whisker stress.
Whisker stress, also known as whisker fatigue, is caused when a cat’s whiskers are forced to come in contact with the edges of their food bowl or dish. Since a cat’s whiskers are extremely sensitive, this is quite uncomfortable and can cause irritation. This new bowl from Dr. Catsby is a great solution!
Dr. Catsby’s Anti-Whisker Stress Cat Food Bowl provides a wide shallow eating surface that allows food to fall to the center of the bowl but still provides enough of an edge to prevent food from being pushed out of the bowl. Made from high-quality stainless steel, the bowl is dishwasher safe and includes a cutaway for easy lifting.
Stainless steel is one of the best materials for feeding cats because it can be thoroughly cleaned and won’t harbor acne-causing bacteria like plastic can. The Dr. Catsby bowl sits on a separate rubber mat to prevent slipping and to make clean up easy, something I think is genius, because I’ve had to throw away several bowls that had attached rubber rings, which are hard to clean and become cracked and worn over time. The separate non-slip mat is a great idea!
You will not be disappointed in the quality of this feeding bowl! And at $19.99 it’s a bargain! I love these so much, I’ve added them to the Hauspanther online store, available for shipping worldwide. Order one (or two) today!
Fantastic design!! So many cat owners don’t realize this and they use dog or people bowls to feed their felines.
I use shallow dishes but this bowl is very nice looking and purrfectly designed. 🙂 🙂 Well done
WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only do I think I would love that bowl for Cody, I am CRAZY about the name, too cute!!
Has anyone used these? I am wondering if my cats would just push the food right out of the dish.
I’ve been using them and they are surprisingly good at keeping the food in the bowl! They can still push a little off, but it’s deep enough at the center to keep most of the food in.
I bought two of them and I’m really pleased with the design. They don’t slip or scoot around. They are easy to clean, they are attractive. They work well for both wet food and kibble. The dish is slightly concave, so the kibble tends to stay at the lowest point, keeping the food in a concentrated pile, rather than spreading out (and then becoming invisible to a cat) like it would if served on a flat surface. I decided to try it for wet food because the cat is tending to roll her wet food off of her plates and onto the floor, resulting in a lot of waste. This design seems to help reduce that issue.
Can you please tell me where these are made?
thank you. 🙂
They were designed in the US and are made in China.
That’s a shame :-(. Never know what will actually turn up in the material the bowl is made from, despite how it may be labeled.
Thoughtful and attractive design!
I will not feed my cats food from China! Their food and water will not be going in a bowl from there. Come on Hauspanther, check out Basispet cat bowls. All USA and safe!
I will definitely check them out! Here at Hauspanter, we promote any products that we feel are safe and good for cats, and I have no problem at all with these bowls. They are very high quality stainless steel and they are available at an affordable price. I like to present all the options so people can make their own decisions.
Two questions: does this or will this, come in an elevated style for seniors? And, is there any issue with stainless steel? (Always thought cats prefer other materials)
I ordered two so my cats could test them out. I can’t wait to do a review for my pet blog!
I can see how this “bowl” would work well for a cat or two, and it looks like it would be easy to clean by hand. However, lacking really whisker friendly bowls up to now, with multiple cats to feed, I decided a few years ago to use Corelle plates with a thin silicone pot holder underneath for stabilization (similar in function to this bowl’s base, but not visible). The dinner plates work great for multiple cats, smaller plates for single servings. The plates are lightweight, easy to clean in the dishwasher, and tough to break if someone gets too frisky. I’ve also found the Fiestaware small and medium bowls (14.25 & 19 ounce with a small lip) make pretty shallow water bowls – the medium even fits an elevated bowl frame we already had that keeps the water off the floor. The cats still won’t drink all the way down, but we throw out less water than we had from deeper pet bowls, and the water baby no longer stands in any of the bowls tossing out water by the pawful. Both items are relatively easy to locate in multiple department stores, as well as online, and known to be safe for human use.
Kibble that is round gets pushed up and over the rim of the bowl as the felines chase it around the sloped walls of the container. Flat kibble sticks to the stainless steel once it gets moistened by the cat’s saliva. Just didn’t work for me.
