Looking for an atractive pet drinking fountain that’s easy to keep clean? Check out the Raindrop fountain from Pioneer Pet. Not only does it come in your choice of stainless steelor ceramic, but the Raindrop fountain is very easy to clean. Some of the other fountains I’ve tried have all sorts of little parts and they are difficult to take apart, making cleaning a big hassle. And if you don’t clean your pet’s drinking fountain regularly, that’s when acne-causing bacteria start to grow. Ick!
The fountain will keep water flowing, which is attractive to cats and encourages them to drink more. These fountains also have a replaceable charcoal filter to keep water fresh and they can both go in the dishwasher.
Both ceramic and stainless steel are available from Amazon.
We got this fountain as a gift and we love it. It’s easy to take apart every few days to clean. Both the dog and cats love it. Just make sure you clean it every few days so it doesn’t sit and get yucky.
I have the ceramic one! My kitties love it. c:
We have three of these – they’re excellent and I love not using plastic. Reminder: take the white motor holder and the small pieces of the motor that can be removed and clean them well. I use a little hummingbird cleaner brush to get in the crevices. The owner of the company that sells these gave me specific instructions by phone. If you don’t clean them as well as the hidden motor parts – like a little spinner, for example, they’ll get mucky, and fur can get into them. It’s NOT difficult but there are small parts, and I wouldn’t know what parts to clean just to look at them.
Hi, Beth. I’ve had one of these for a few years now, but the motors only last a year and die, so often, it’s just a big aluminum bowl of water. I always cleaned inside the tube of the pump, and used a brush to clean the little mesh-lined grooves of the pump, but are you saying I should take the pump apart? I can’t think what other little parts to which you’re referring. I sure would like to know, please. I’m fairly certain my cats would like to have the founding up and running again.
We’ve got the SS one & it’s great. Soooooo much better than plastic.
I have been SO attracted to these because, well, they are very attractive. I wondered if they had some sort of fiddly bits that would frustrate the human (me). Thanks for the in depth look.
All filtered cat fountains do have small parts and all of the parts need to be kept clean; these are very attractive choices! We have another type, which has definitely encouraged the drinking of more water (and lots of water sports by the resident calico, who absolutely loves aping a raccoon for some reason).
Really beautiful and my cats would love it. However, I don’t think I’d end up cleaning it as often as it needs and I definitely can’t see me cleaning the motor; I’d just worry because I wasn’t.
I got the ceramic one and am disappointed that it leaks! I can’t fill it very full because I end up with a puddle around it. Ruined some things on my countertop. No, it’s not the cats splashing, I made sure of that! I think it’s leaking by way of the power cord….I would have sent it back if I had saved the box.
Nadia, you might still try contacting them, hopefully they will replace it for you!
Does a little stream of water come up for them to drink from?
My five cats love this fountain. I have the stainless steel model and have had it for over two years. I know they love it because they are not at the faucet anymore, ever. Why should they want water from the tap when they have their fountain?
I’ve been thinking about buying a fountain for a while now, and these 2 look so perfect! I’ll have to look into this, so thanks for sharing!

I have the black one and love it, however, I have fairly hard water and it leaves a white build-up and every little splash/splatter is very hard to remove. I would recommend the stainless steel instead. t is still so much easier to maintain than the plastic petwell fountain I had before. My 2 kitties love it. One likes to drink from the base and the other likes to drink where the water bubbles up on top.
wow…I am sure my cats will love these pet fountains.
