These beautiful ceramic works of art are not just another pretty piece of sculpture, they are lovely little drinking fountains designed just for cats. Ceramic artist Keith Davitt has been refining his drinking fountain design for years and he has several styles that cats seem to love. What a great way to keep kitty hydrated, while adding a lovely fountain to your home.
These fountains are very simple, making them easy to keep clean. Each one comes with a unique glazed bowl, a pump, and a decorative ceramic piece that hides the pump. All materials and glazes are certified food safe.
Keith sent us a fountain to test and, as you can see below, Simba loves it (and so do all the others!) The fountain was very easy to set-up and it looks so nice on the ledge above the kitchen counter. You can see the three simple pieces included in the package: bowl, pump with cord, and pottery cover for the pump. I adjusted the pump to create a little bubbling fountain because I like the sound of trickling water, but the pump can also be adjusted to keep the water moving silently.
Keith also makes copper tube accessories for his fountains. These “cat taps” can be added to certain fountains to crate taller falling water features, which many cats love. The cat taps are ordered separately from the fountains.
Keith is constantly developing new designs and adding new glazes. Keep an eye on the CatFountains Etsy shop to see what’s currently available.
Wow – these are really beautiful. So much nicer than the commercial ones that you see around. Very talented!
Thanks,
KC
I love them but cant drop $120 for one…. Tell her to make them $45 bucks and Ill get one.
@Tara — these aren’t mass-produced, they are handmade (and very lovingly so, I might add)… so considering the labor and time and craftsmanship involved, Keith’s fountains are completely worth what he charges. You can find a utilitarian white or black ceramic cat fountain for $45 on Amazon for sure, but as you can imagine, a handmade one with a lovely colored glaze and an elegant copper tap is an entirely different beast. 🙂
O my, handmade is expensive for all the time they put in to it!
I bought two of these after reading about them on your old blog. One of them fits very nicely in my living room, and they are VERY easy to keep clean.
“Cat taps.” How cool is THAT? 😉 Love these gorgeous fountains so much — reminds me of my school clay/kilm creating days 😉
I bought one of these a while back and it is lovely. It’s also surprisingly easy o keep clean.
My cats adore their fountains from Keith. We’ve been using them since 2010 and now our four felines won’t drink from anything else!
I took a video when we first got one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8iciOlePp4
I love the designs but the base has me very concerned. My kitties are not the most graceful creatures and by appearances this fountain will tip over very easily.
Have to chime in: they look delicate but are actually made of hefty, fired ceramic and I honestly can’t imagine them tipping over. We have four big clumsy cats (the largest is 17 lbs) that have been drinking from these for 3 years and they haven’t managed to tip it over or even shove it over in the slightest. BTW, we have two of these fountains — one is taller with a bit of a pedestal base and the other is wider, more like a pasta bowl — and both are equally stable. 🙂
I have one of these and love it. I am considering getting a second one as they are so beautiful. (I’m clumsy sometimes and I haven’t managed to tip mine over when I bumped into it.)
We bought one of these for our 3 cats last year. It is beautiful workmanship, very quiet, easy to clean and the cats all drink from it after a short “getting-to-know-you” phase. It comes with helpful instructions as well. Highly recommended gift for your kitties and better than a vet bill if they aren’t great about drinking water. It’s very stable (we have the non-pedestal style) as it has good weight to it and even if you have a cat that likes to paw the sides before drinking I think it would be tough to tip over.
These bowls are real works of art; so lovely.
We bought one a few years ago and it was well worth it! My four cats love it, and it cleans easily. This is excellent quality!
They are lovely, but too expensive for me.
Love the fountain. It is pretty, so easy to clean and the cats love it.
For all you cat lovers out there 🙂 , I have bought numerous water fountains and finally came across this one. . I have the most finicky cat out there- “typical female” lol ! I was afraid of all the plastic fountains ( very unhealthy , do your homework and you will agree) By the way , very nice people who answered all my questions , Came quickly and had it Put together within a few minutes and had it up and running. And behold little “Missy” ( who by the way is 8 months old & did I say very finicky ??? ) went right up to it , end of story , very happy ending here – after a week it was time to clean & give her fresh water & I must say was the easiest cleaning of a fountain. Sooo well worth the money ! She drinks more water than she ever has. Don’t hesitate “BUY” you won’t be sorry . Many thanks from Texas !!!!!
i have one of these and it is beautiful. However the pumped stopped working in the directions it says the pump. Is easy to replace but I haven’t been able to do so. Noe it is just a pretty water dish
