San Francisco-based scientific illustrator Jenny Parks is a self-proclaimed nerd who creates fabulous drawings of cats as pop culture characters. I met her at Phoenix Comicon last weekend and I was blown away by her work.
Being new to an event like Comicon myself, I’m not exactly up-to-speed on all the references, but I’m sure everyone will be able to recognize a character or two among Jenny’s extensive collection of cat illustrations. I particularly like the portrait of “Catniss” above.
For the Doctor Who fans out there, you’ll appreciate Jenny’s collection of “Doctor Mew” drawings.
You can purchase Jenny’s artwork on buttons, magnets, postcards, and prints from her Etsy shop, or on t-shirts from Redbubble. Visit www.jennyparks.com to learn more about Jenny and her work.
I HAVE purchased lots of prints from Jenny! LOVE them! 🙂
OMC I LOVE the “Downtown Tabby” T-shirt!!
Those are amazing.
Please tell Jenny that we’d love to have the Downton Abby design on Tote bags! I would buy several!
I don’t know from pop culture at all; the only references I recognize, though I’ve never seen either series, are to Dr. Who and Downton Abbey. Beautiful work, though!
I think the first one is meant to be Sherlock and John Watson from the BBC series Sherlock. I love Love LOVE it (the series and the drawing). I have no where to display something like that, but I feel like it really captures them.
(Boy, am I going to be embarrassed if it is not meant to be them!
Such clever designs; love Dr. Mew.
I was so excited about the Downton Tabby T but a 3XL has a chest measurement of 27″?! Yeah … that’s not going to cut it. 🙁
Would love to get a Doctor Meow shirt, too.
