Just in case you haven’t seen this incredible new use of technology, I though I’d share it. It’s the Petcube, a new concept from a brilliant design team working to use technology to keep us connected to our pets. Petcube is a compact cube-shaped device that houses a wide-angle camera, speakers, a microphone, and a built-in laser pointer. All of those things connect to your home wi-fi, allowing you to control the system through your smartphone.
So, when you’re away from home, you can see and hear your pet, talk to your pet, and interact with them by activating and controlling the laser pointer. And that’s not all! You can capture still images or video through the app and share them instantly on all your social media channels. What a spectacular use of technology!
Petcube is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds needed to bring the product to market. They have already met their first goal of raising $100K, but if they can raise more funds they will be able to develop additional features like sound alerts, autoplay mode, and motion detection. Visit the Petcube Kickstarter page for more details.
Happily, I do everything at home, so I don’t need this; but I can see how a lot of people might, and it looks great!
I wish I had one right now.
Oh how i really NEED this! Especially being a rescue volunteer and foster!
I so need this!!! Must watch my little mischief makers!!!
I’d like to have these all over my house. Would love to see how my 5 cats interact while I’m away.
Hi!
Two things:
Am concerned about te safety of the laser pointer inadvertantly shining in their eyes
How about a two way camera, so they can see us?
PS I love the petcube!!!
Oh! I would love one of these! So clever!
Brilliant idea! Wish I’d noticed the crowdfund earlier, some of the best perks are gone :/
