NOTE: We’ve had one of these for years and it seriously looks like new, plus the cats absolutely love it! They nap in it all the time and the top is used for scratching every day. The toy didn’t last very long, but the rest of the features are excellent. The pad inside stands up to frequent washing very well, too. This is a real winner!

There is a slightly overdramatic review on Amazon stating how hard this is to put together and there is also a statement saying it may fall apart. Could you give an honest assessment of how hard it was to put together and how safe it is?
Absolutely! It does take a bit of strength and dexterity to bend the panels and pop then into the end pieces, it would help to have two people for assembly. It’s fairly simple, you just need extra hands. As for stability, I’ve never stacked two on top of each other myself, but I know that you’re supposed to attach them with screws to make it more stable and you’re not supposed to stack more than two.
Not sure if they’ve changed anything with production. I’ll see if I can find out.
Every time I see one of these, I like it — and I’m sure cats do, too. The toy can be swapped out, can it not? (Really great pic of you with Jackson G, btw *envy*) 😉
I was about to buy a couple of these to stack, cause I thought they looked so cool, then I read the most recent reviews at Amazon and decided against it. Apparently this product is a nightmare to assemble and falls apart easily, thus endangering your cat(s) life! Maybe the quality dropped when they redesigned it, since older reviews are much more positive, but I am not taking the risk. 🙁
I’ve had one of these for at least 2 years now. I was able to put it together by myself fairly easily. It probably would have been easier with a second pair of hands. It’s held up really well only the toy has been destroyed. I would totally recommend it and I’m looking to buy another one at this point because my cats don’t want to share.
I’m not sure about the Amazon reviewers, but I’ve had this bed for over a year now and it is perfectly sturdy, and not all that hard to put together – you just need to snap the panels into place correctly. Benny loves sleeping on the inside and sitting on top to look out the window. We call it his spaceship. Also, yes you could swap out the toy if you want! It just snaps into the holder on the side, so you can leave it there or use it as a wand instead. He has managed to scratch off a couple of the sisal strings at the edges, but it’s really minor wear (and easy to trim) for something that is so well used. I would definitely recommend this product.
I won’t be ordering a single product from this company in the future. I ordered two of these beds and we have one defective part that needs to be replaced. They don’t “do” part replacement. Honestly, they don’t seem to care that I received defective merchandise. The top kept collapsing on one of my cats when another got on top. We figured out that the grooves were off. They just told me to contact Amazon, how’s that for standing by their product?? I was planning I two more, but not now.
