Here’s another brand new modern cat tree! It’s the Tabby Tree from Modern Cat Designs and it looks like a real winner. This sturdy free-standing cat tree is designed to look like an abstract modern tree with five carpeted platforms for climbing and perching. Made of fiberboard with a laminated, glossy white finish, the Tabby Tree would be easy to wipe clean, unlike traditional carpeted cat trees.
The looped pile carpet inserts are recessed into the platforms and held in place with Velcro, making them easy to remove for cleaning or replacement. The carpet inserts are available in Sky Blue, Latte Tan, Ruby Red or Fashion Grey. The new Tabby Tree is available directly from ModernCatDesigns.com.

Fantastic! More than I can afford but the cats would absolutely love it. Maybe when I win the lottery I’ll get 2!! 🙂
Cute idea but like much of the cat merchandise on this site, way over-priced! I’m beginning to feel like cat owners are being exploited. I have 5 cats and would love to get them a nice climber or shelves or a fun new bed, but I certainly can’t justify spending this kind of money on cookie cutter, mass produced items.
Hi Deborah,
Thanks for sharing your feedback! We too were sensitive about the price of the Tabby Tree. With the Tabby Tree (and all our products) it’s really important to us that our customers (and their cats!) are happy with the furniture we make. Price is a factor in that but equally important —we believe— is the quality of the design and materials involved. We only feel comfortable offering products we’re proud to have made. It’s something we take seriously. This philosophy is what guided our design and construction of the Tabby Tree and is why we it took us over a year to develop it.

Why do these great looking cat trees have to be so darn expensive? I’m surprised that not of those companies that sell furniture we have to assemble ourselves have branched out into these items. I’ll bet the prices would be at least 80% lower. While these are beautiful, I doubt that the cats would appreciate that fact.
Ooh! I really like this one. Considering the cost of those hideous carpet climbers that are available everywhere, and the fact that the carpet pads are replaceable, I DON’T think the price of this is ridiculous. Expensive yes, but not out of reach.
My big question with this type of item concerns sturdiness. With 2 or 3 cats playing, scratching and leaping on and off, will it wobble and tip? Will I find it tipped over onto the floor when I get home from work? If so, I wouldn’t pay two cents for it! But if it’s very safe, sturdy and secure, it may be worth it.
Hi Kimberly!
We also spent a lot of time thinking about that. We wouldn’t want our cats playing on something that could potentially fall! The Tabby Tree is very sturdy. The base of the tree is fairly heavy which keeps it anchored and the design is balanced to keep it from tipping. Also we included a lot of support to prevent the tree from wobbling.

Great idea for a cat tree! It will look like they are sitting on the branches, I have always loved Modern Cat Design Products. Excellent quality and customer service. You get what you pay for! And these more expensive items last for many years. I am very excited about getting this tree. Love the combo of fiberboard and carpet. Nice clean look and easy to take care of. This will be the kitties Christmas present!
I’m with Fritz G in hoping that “those companies…” will branch out (no pun intended) to offering cat furniture like this. And if I win the lottery (which I won’t as I don’t gamble) I will definitely think about one of these in latte.
I can just imagine various rescue kittens really enjoying exploring on this, not in my budget though!
Shocked at the price. And since we’re in February and their site say free shipping into January is a fail.
Very nice design.
An issue that concerns me is the “looped” carpet. Looped carpet can be hazardous for a cat’s claws because the nails can get caught causing severe trauma to cat. I think the carpet used for cats posts, trees, scratching, etc, should be cut carpet (not looped) for that reason. Cats can lose a full nail if caught – they panic and injury can be severe.
