Samantha Martin has been working with animals and studying the human-animal bond her entire life. At first glance, you may think that her touring show, The Amazing Acro-Cats and Rock Cats, is just a spectacle, but look closer — it is actually an incredible tool for helping educate people about building relationships with animals, emphasizing the joy they can bring to our lives. And, even more importantly in my opinion, the show increases awareness about the cat overpopulation problem we face here in the US and the importance of rescuing cats.
All of the cats in Samantha’s show are rescued. She demonstrates the usefulness of clicker-training for cats in the show as they perform, but Samantha is also a big advocate for using similar training techniques at home, especially in the case of emergencies.
The Acro-Cats Are Hiring!
If you’ve always dreamed of running away and joining the circus, this could be your opportunity! The Acro-cats have an opening for a touring assistant. Here’s the description:
“A 9 to 5 cubicle job your idea of hell? Are you a spur of the moment, adventure lover who takes pride in what they do, but doesn’t want a treadmill kind of job? Have you ever thought of running away to join the circus? Here’s your chance. Professional, well established trained cat circus seeks show assistant who is comfortable on stage and finds the idea of traveling the nation in a cat themed RV to be cool and exciting. Must be willing and able to be part roadie, part performer and part cat caretaker and go with the flow. We combine entertainment with education and cat rescue so being a loving companion to orphaned kittens is required. Work is sometimes stressful, always changing and never dull. Extended travel is required so homebodies wouldn’t be happy with this job. Regular stage performances and possible appearances on national tv, so not a good fit for the shy type either. Serious inquiries only please. Kind of allergic to cats? Not a good choice for you.”

Superb!
I hope Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys is gonna be a guest on your show.
Taking care of cats? Organizing events? Travelling by bus? Road food? Wearing all my cat-themed accessories? Sounds like a dream job. I’m not an American, so I probably can’t work in the U.S., but once I move to a border town (Windsor, Canada, across from Detroit, Michigan), I’ll be in touch!
Sounds like this would be the World’s GREATEST job! Only one drawback. Already have a Circus of my own to take care of 🙂 28 cats, 5 horses, 3 burros and 2 sheep! No way I can travel (heck I hardly get past the city limits) LOL
I would really love to join the acro cats circus.
I love cats, traveling, and being on stage.
