Upsetting News
I have to share some upsetting news with you. Last week, while in LA, the Cat Car that the Acro-Cats bring with them on tour was brutally vandalized by some cat-hating skateboarders. I was so upset when I first heard the news, it’s just horrifying to think that people — especially young people — would hate cats so much and then take out their hostility on a group that is doing such wonderful work to help promote cats and cat rescue. I almost cannot talk about it, but I wanted you to know. Here’s a link to an article from the LA Times with details about the vandalism.
Their custom car was smashed and the giant foam sculpture of Tuna the cat was destroyed. There is a donate button on CircusCats.com if you would like to make a contribution to help repair the damages.
That’s just horrible! Why some people have to behave like uncivilized banshees is beyond me. And, like you said, young people being so cruel!
I hope they catch these jerks but they probably won’t. 🙁
Geez! As if there isn’t enough trouble in the world without intentionally making more. This really saddens me. I hope the culprits are brought to justice and that the car can be fully restored.
How cruel, I think they should perhaps not drive around in an identifiable vehicle – if their safety is at risk.
I’m sorry to ask but do these cats mind being transported around to different places? Aren’t cats territorial, preferring to stick to their own zones? I’m a little concerned these cats might get disorientated and stressed out being ferried around…
These kitties are all my pets and I have raised most of them since they were tiny kittens. I take them everywhere to get them used to traveling from the beginning, so it feels very normal to them. The back 1/3 of the bus has been converted into a kitty paradise with perches, trees and shelves so they have all the comforts of home. They actually seem to enjoy the bus as it drives around, because I see them jump on the cat trapeze which swings around while moving.
The comfort and well being of my cats is very important to me so I monitor them closely.
Just donated, so sorry to see that people can be such douchenozzles. Will be getting tickets to see the show and driving up from San Diego. My two boys LOVE cats and will love this show. I hope they catch whoever did this and vandalize their own homes as payback. And throw their skateboards into a shredder while they’re at it.
This brought tears to my eyes. How horrific. I sent a small donation in; please know you have a ton of supporters and fans. It would be great if the vandals could be arrested. Please don’t let this bring you down; you’re awesome in everything you do.
I’m so sorry to hear about your vehicles being vandalized! That is terrible. And I’m so sorry that it happened in my city. Just made a small donation on behalf of the cat lovers here.
This makes me cry …
I hope the police catch the jerks and throw their asses behind bars—-after they are made to fully reimburse you for all the damages they caused.
