I love a good Catification hack! That’s when you take something that’s not made for a cat and use your creativity to transform it into something that cats will use and love. This one is from Hanna on Pinterest, she took the Ikea Trendig tray table and, by simply adding comfy cushions, made a fabulous 2-story cat bed!
Easy Catification!
Wonderful idea! Love IKEA — and love this cat hack!
So genius thanks for sharing!
LOVE this!!!
Great idea. Unfortunately this piece is not available at my local IKEA or online 🙁
$59.00
Thanks for teasing us with this awesome idea… too bad this IKEA item isn’t available online or locally. Should probably mention that tidbit in the article, so we don’t get all excited to go buy it. Now we’re just wistful…
I thought the same thing when I saw these! Except the baskets aren’t attached and I could see them flip really easily. I could flip it with the slightest touch.
Yes, I would definitely attach the baskets to the frame, probably with screws and washers.
I clicked on the Trendig link; it’s a 2013 item and was $60. But– it might be pretty easy to make something similar. The Trendig link shows it’s 24 3/8 l x 24 3/8 d x 27 1/2″ h. Here are the assembly instructions:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/assembly_instructions/trendig-tray-table__AA-907897-1.pdf
Page 2 shows the components and page 3 shows the assembly. Looks like it’d be pretty easy to figure out what size to make the pieces. Then, find baskets or trays, etc., to fit on it.
I just might try it!
Darn, not available in Australia.
Obviously people would buy these….anyone want to craft them?
When I see things like this they offer inspiration more than that ‘damn I’m gonna go buy all this now’ response! What do I have around that might be transformed in such a manner?. What might speak to me at a garage sale that reminds me of this and might be similarly utilized? To me, that is the fun of it. Not necessarily being a total copy-cat……yes, PUN intended!
Unfortunately you cannot buy Trendig in Sweden – IKEA:s birthcountry. 🙁
Thanks Hauspanther for posting this! I was so delighted to see our cats and my idea here, with the nice comments 🙂
I haven’t screwed or secured anything with the baskets and the cats haven’t broken it once. But of course, it will be more stable when you secure the separate parts together.
I had to replace the grey fabric with more durable one. The picture of the current version is also now in my Pinterest board called Our cats.
Grrrrr! Not available in the U.K. either! Perhaps you could put a new entry on Pinterest. I was SO excited when I saw this hack because Tuppence, my cat, only likes to nap on high surfaces. The Trendig looked perfect, cue sobbing! 😫😩😢😢😢😢
