Here’s a simply brilliant Catification Hack from one of my favorite sites, Ikeahackers.net. Laura from London took a single Ikea Expedit shelf, wrapped some sisal rope around one side, added two cushions, and look at the results! The perfect two-story cat lounge with a built-in scratching surface, which I’m guessing will be used from both the inside and the outside. Great job, Laura!
Note: Ikea has replaced the Expedit line with their new Kallax shelving system, which uses less wood in order to be more eco-friendly, and I don’t see the single cube in the new line. You could do his hack with any open-backed storage cube. If you try it, please send me your photos!
This might be a good alternative – not sure if the casters lock though

Considering the bug problem in Florida, I would prefer to try that with a custom CEMENT Block
As a huge fan of IKEA and (of course!) a cat lover, this is something I’d like to bring into our home!
This is beautiful!!! Great job, really looks gorgeous and upscale. Those are two lucky kitties for sure♥
Saw this mentioned on Sparkle’s blog — what a fantastic idea! I hadn’t known that the Expedit line was discontinued, though. I have the four-cube unit and if I ever don’t need it for storage, I’ll know what to do with it!
