And here’s a great idea from our friend Noelle over at Xenotees! Once her cats had thoroughly use the outside of their PetFusion lounge, she chopped it in half to let them use the inner surface. What a great way to extend the life of this scratcher and really get your money’s worth!
These are really attractive scratchers — I hope a lot of readers will take advantage of this opportunity, and thank you for sharing it with us!
Wow, what a great idea about cutting it in half! Will definitely have to try that with this and other cardboard scratchers we use. Thanks for sharing!
It’s also $49.95 on Amazon with free shipping

I really love the idea of cutting these things in half! I have several… my kitties absolutely love Petfusion products! I was also going to mention the ongoing price of $49.99 on Amazon, where I’ve bought all my Petfusion stuff. With Amazon Prime, there’s free shipping.
I bought one of these through Amazon around a month ago to help with my cat settling into a new home. She loves it AND has settled into the new home very quickly. I like the idea of cutting it in half once it’s been well used. Great idea.
Thanks for sharing my hack, Kate! Their scratchers are so awesome!
Where can I get this in the UK?

Love this idea. I was thinking of buying a new one, but now I can give the one I have a full life of use. What was used to cut it in half?
Hi Laine!
Good question! We just used a table saw, but you could surely use a jigsaw or a circular saw. I suppose you could even use a hacksaw if you had the time & energy. Just be careful!- safety first!
Best,
Noëlle
This is a beautiful Cat Scratcher Lounge, but before I make that investment, how long before this thing looks so bad, it needs to be cut in half?
I was also curious…. I read that you can Comb the cardboard when it starts to get Shreaded… What kind of comb?
Mine actually came with a brush… it’s wired, pin-like, like the cat brush you can buy at the pet stores. It has a button you press that moves a plate-like piece of plastic from the base of the brush needles/pins to almost the tips of them, thereby pushing the “gleanings” off. Kind of hard to explain. You therefore don’t need to pull out the hair, if brushing a pet, or in this case, the tiny cardboard pieces it collects. It doesn’t renew the cardboard in any real sense; it just sort of cleans it of cat hair and loose paper pieces from the unit.
To be clear, you can use any of those wiry brushes bought in pet stores for the same purpose. But I love this self-cleaning one. It really works!
