Anybody have any idea what shipping is for the scratcher?
Best way to get an accurate estimate for shipping to your address is to put the scratcher in your cart at ArchitectPets.com and enter your address (before you are asked for your credit card) and you can calculate the shipping costs. Because the scratcher ships in a rather large box (20″ square) the shipping cost ranges from between $15 and $50 depending on the location.
They charged me $37 for shipping! That was the cheaper of the two options. I went ahead with the purchase, because it’s a nice item, but for me it costs almost $100, not $60.
Hi Diane,
Thank you for your purchase. Unfortunately, we have no way of controlling the shipping costs from our contracted fulfillment center. We have already absorbed the pick-n-pack fee which is around $5/per product. I wish we could do more.
Thanks for responding. I look forward to giving my cat her Christmas gift.
I just went to order this and two sets of replacement pads but was going to be charged $68 for shipping! I ship things to my family in MO all the time, in 20x20x24 in. boxes weighing between 50 to 75ibs., and get charged half that at Fedex.
Hi Juniper,
Thank you for your post. Unfortunately, the costs of shipping is dictated by our contracted fulfillment center and we cannot do anything about that. They are actually a very large and competitive fulfillment center though the costs seem high. As for the package size and weights, because of the size of the box it overrides the cost of the weight. We have done our best at making it a little lighter for our customers by absorbing the pick-n-pack fee of about $5 per product and we do not mark up the shipping cost by even a penny.
Most upright cat scratchers are not very useful as your cat gets grows up, they usually fall over. This one has a GREAT design.
Thank you for your compliments Lynda! We have had nothing but rave reviews from our customers with our cat scratcher. We have also had customers come back and purchase multiples because their cats have loved them so much and they look great within their homes.
Over a year ago I tried to buy several pieces from their site. They didn’t tell me what shipping was before I completed check out, for some reason, and I tried to call and email customer service SEVERAL times, to no avail. Not a single person ever returned my call. I only had a questions about shipping costs! Their products are beautiful but I’m not surprised that they are closing. They lost out on hundred of dollars from me and I also have told my friends not to buy. Their customer service doesn’t exist at all. Such poor business!! Shame on them!!
Hi Kathy,
Our deepest apologies for that. I can understand your frustration and I am very sorry. We had some major internal issues with our China supplier at that time and that put us in a very difficult situation. Without going into too many details, the entire reason we are shutting down is because of our supplier. We have learned a very important lesson with China and will be moving manufacturing into America. It has truly been heartbreaking for us. I hope you can understand and accept our apologies.
$43 for shipping… Nope, I’ll pass even with the discount.
Shipping to VA for two cat scratchers was $88.69. WOW – that seems really expensive as they can’t be that heavy and two of them should nest into one box. I wasn’t able to order the replacement pads, there was some sort of problem on the site. These are very lovely and I would consider buying two at the sale price but not at the expensive shipping costs.
Hi KC,
Thank you for your compliments and concerns.
The scratchers are a bit on the pricey side to ship. It does not have anything to do with the weight. It only has to do with the dimensions of the packaging. Unfortunately, we cannot control the shipping costs because they are what our contracted fulfillment center charges us. We do not increase it one cent, but we actually absorb the pick-n-pack fee of $5/per product to make it a little easier on our customers. As for nesting two scratchers within each other, these come directly from our factory packaged as one and our warehouse will not repackage them so we are out of luck with that. Our apologies.
$42 shipping to ND for one scratcher and a set of replacement pads. Yikes!
Out of my price range, but it is a gorgeous set and a very good opportunity for those who can afford! Thanks for sharing this.
Shipping to Phx, AZ was $21.06 for one scratcher and one set of replacement pads.
I wanted a couple for my kitties, but didn’t get a chance to order right away, now they’re gone. Oh well… 🙁
Regarding shipping; I am wondering why you don’t just pack and ship it yourself and go with regular parcel post via the USPS? It seems like your middle man is taking you to the cleaners and in turn you have no choice but to pass it on to your customers.
Hi Tammy,
Sorry you did not have the chance to get one for your kitties.
The reason is because we had 3 containers of products and when you contract work with a fulfillment center it scales with your business so you are only paying for the amount of space you are using. So if one month we have 3 containers of products and sell through a ton of them and the following month you only have half container than you only pay for that half. In regards to the shipping costs, the Astoria is a bit of a different situation. All of the other products are pretty low and almost to a point where we question if they are correct.
Anyways, thank you for your comments and suggestions. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
