For our last giveaway of 2015, you have a chance to win the wildly popular new Anti-Whisker Stress Cat Food Bowl from Dr. Catsby! These are flying off the shelves and I hope everyone who has already ordered one is finding that it helps their cats eat more peacefully.
What is Whisker Stress?
Whisker stress, also known as whisker fatigue, is caused when a cat’s whiskers are forced to come in contact with the edges of their food bowl or dish. Since a cat’s whiskers are extremely sensitive, this is quite uncomfortable and can cause irritation.
The Dr. Catsby bowl prevents whisker stress by providing a wide shallow eating surface that allows food to fall to the center of the bowl but still provides enough of an edge to prevent food from being pushed out of the bowl. The high-quality stainless steel bowl is dishwasher safe and includes a cutaway for easy lifting. The Dr. Catsby bowl is available from the Hauspanther online shop for $19.99.

Thank you for the opportunity to win what looks like a very stylish, pratical, and cat-friendly bowl!
Oh my! I have never heard of whisker stress before! I think I know why one of my cats whose whiskers grow forward, away from her face takes her food one bite at a time and drop it outside of the bowl then eat it. I just always thought she eats oddly as everything she does has her own unique ways that other cats don’t have lol.
Three of my five cats have “whisker stress”. They simply paw their food out of the bowl on to the floor. As a temporary solution, I have been feeding them on cloth napkins as a m9ore sanitary solution. I use stainless water bowls (buy only USA made) and I was excited to see the Dr. Catsby bowls. I felt they would solve two issues. I have been very happy with products that I have purchased in the past based on positive Hauspanther reviews so I purchased five bowls, one for each of my rescue cats. Here is the problem with these bowls. Since there is no rim, the cats simply push the food right out of the bowl and on to the floor as they chase the kibble around the bowl trying to grab it OR the kibble gets so wet it sticks to the sides of the slanted metal bowl and they try even harder to eat their meal. In the future I guess I will not take to heart such enthusiasm for a product and I will donate this expensive mistake to my vet.
Thank you for your honest feedback on the Dr. Catsby bowl! We always want to hear about your experience. I’m sorry to hear that the bowls didn’t work out for your cats. Whisker stress is a tricky thing to combat, it’s definitely hard to create a dish that keeps food in while still offering plenty of clearance for whiskers.
I’ve been using the bowl since before I first reviewed it and I find that it really depends on the cat and the food. I find that with a little canned food (just enough for one portion) my cats have been surprisingly neat about using the bowl. Every cat is different, of course, so I’m sure this won’t work for everyone, but there will be hopefully plenty of happy cats (and cat guardians!)
I do want to give the Dr. Catsby team kudos for explaining whisker stress in the very best way I’ve ever seen it described. I think that their work to create a bowl that is better for cats and their marketing of the bowl will definitely help more cat owners understand that this might be an issue for their cats, and encourage them to try a different way of feeding, be it the Dr. Catsby bowl or some other dish that does the trick.
