Are you familiar with that slimy layer that develops in your cat’s water dish? It’s caused by the bacteria that’s transferred from the cat’s mouth to the water dish when they drink. Sometimes even washing the dish every day doesn’t do the trick, but the new CuBowl is here to help!
The CuBowl is a copper plated pet water dish. Copper has anti-microbial properties that help prevent the build-up of that slimy layer. Of course, you still need to wash the dish regularly, let’s not be unrealistic, but this should help reduce the problem and make cleaning a bit easier. Not to mention that the copper is beautiful!
The CuBowl just launched a Kickstarter campaign and they are offering some great deals for early backers. Check it out on the CuBowl Kickstarter page and get one for your cat!
I guess I must wash a lot, because I wasn’t familiar with this problem, but those dishes are gorgeous! I’ve always loved the color of copper.
I tried to order several, thinking from what it said..49 for the first large and 30 after that each…so i thought i ordered 259 or 8 ñlarge bowls thru pledging…..then it wouldnt take discovr so i had to find another card…then it Said shipping and what it said indicated the first pricing was wrong..then i neEded kickstart password to log in again so i decided it wasnt for me. However…In THE MEANTIME, VINEGAR DISSOlVES AND DISINFECTS OUR PRESENT CRAPPY BOWLS.
They are beautiful but wouldn’t your pets be able to taste copper metal like we do?
I think the bowls are beautiful, and I do use metal bowls as opposed to ceramic or plastic to combat the slime layer, but I would be concerned about copper toxicity with the use of these bowls. Many animals, including mammals, are sensitive to the ingestion of too much copper. Keeping water sitting in a drinking bowl would allow the copper to leach into the water. Maybe it would not be enough to endanger health; maybe it would.

“Mammals have efficient mechanisms to regulate copper stores in the body such that they are generally protected from excess dietary copper levels. However, at high enough levels, chronic overexposure to copper can damage the liver and kidneys.”
“Since excess copper in drinking water is usually due to its slow leaching from the plumbing system into water that has been sitting for several hours in the pipes, running the water for 30 to 60 seconds before using it for drinking or cooking will often significantly reduce copper levels.”
I purchased these bowls and decided those weren’t going to work for us. We never used them. I immediately repacked and shipped them back.
I have since tried to contact them, by email and Facebook. I have yet to hear back from them, regarding my refund, $135.
This company are scammers, I ordered my bowl 4 months ago and still nothing, I’ve sent emails, messages on Facebook and they are now just ignoring me. I’ve also read some other bad reviews about deterioration of the bowls. BE CAREFUL
Oh no! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll see if I can contact them and find out anything.
