The traditional Japanese neko chigura woven cat house has long been an icon of beautiful design for cats, but it has been very difficult to purchase one in the US. I’m incredibly happy to report that these gorgeous cat beds are now available and we’ve got a special deal for you!
The neko chigura shape was created by traditional Japanese basket weavers when they noticed that cats were naturally drawn to the woven baskets being created for cradling babies. This classic design is the perfect size and shape for a cat to nestle into, surrounding them with natural straw fibers that provide a soothing scent and texture.
The folks at Blink Pet searched tirelessly for the perfect source to bring these handcrafted beds to us here in the US. Their NekoHuts, as they are calling them, are each handwoven by skilled artisans using renewable, natural fibers, in the Japanese tradition. Each NekoHut comes with a thick foam cushion and a removable, washable micro-velvet cover in moss or earth. The NekoHut measures 18″ by 18″ by 16″ tall, slightly larger than most Japanese neko chigura cat houses.
We just received one of the first NekoHuts to arrive in the US, and it is even more exquisite than I ever imagined! The second Ando laid eyes on it as it came out of the lovely muslin bag inside the box it ships in, he was compelled to go inside and he hasn’t come out. He’s fast asleep now.

The Neko chigura cat house arrived and is amazing – such beautiful craftsmanship – very solid, tightly woven, pristine straw – and a very generous size! The mat inside is thick and looks very comfy. I love the moss green color, too. My cats immediately checked out the house and took turns resting!
Of course, the large cardboard box the house arrived in was a big hit too…(my one cat is obsessed with boxes). Even the lovely large cotton bag that came with the cat house for storage will be put to good use for cat toys or to play games with my cats.
A very worthwhile purchase…so much better to buy ONE quality item rather than multiple disposable items – very earth friendly!

I received one and love it so much i immediately ordered another. When it arrived I put it resting on the kitchen table and my big boy Finn immediately went in there, as if to say “it’s mine”! Our other cats would just have to wait to check it out, which they all did later.
Anyhow, aside from the fact that the furrkids love it, we love it too. It’s just really gorgeous and beautifully made. It is a bit of a splurge like others say but the quality is worth it and think it will literally last a lifetime.
The other thing that i like is that it doesn’t seem like it attracts cat hair like other beds – every single cat bed we have ever bought typically gets covered in cat hair.
