What would you do if your cat started tearing up a valuable painting? Well, Dutch designer Erik Stehmann took a cue from his cat and came up with this funny take on a cat scratcher.
The Copycat Art Scratcher is a sturdy sisal cat scratcher with famous paintings printed on the scratching surface, including the Mona Lisa and Girl With Pearl Earring.
Now your cat can develop her sense of fine art while grooming her nails! These silly scratchers are available from LordLou.com, erikstehmann-webshop.com and PurrfectDesign.net for €169, or about $200 US.
I love the concept, but too much money – save for someone VERY rich – to spend on an item to be destroyed by my Secondly, I’m curious if the ink that’s used to create the image is free of any kind of poison. We’ve got to keep our beloved felines safe!
I wonder what is more important to you, money, or the safetly of your felines. This product is designed by a young designer with a love for cats, and although I can’t afford it, I can imagine the price probably justifies the efforts to make this product in the safest way. If I were you I’d be more worried about the safety of all the underpriced products that are on the market, thought up by big companies that only think about one thing: making money.
A howl! I can think of quite a few faces I’d like for cat scratchers…;)
It’s so sacrilegious to imagine allowing a cat to touch a precious masterpiece, which is probably why this product makes me giggle so much.
I love that the prints are on a sisal rug – these things will probably look good for a long time while also keeping the cat happy. This is a neat feline product find!
This is HILARIOUS. And I love that it’s made of sisal! Every cat I’ve ever had has loved sisal, and it’ll last forever. I’d imagine the print will hold up pretty well too.
