October is National Pet Obesity Awareness Month, a time for us to all to pay extra attention to our how much our cats weigh. Being overweight can lead to a variety of health issues for cats, including excessive stress on joints and internal organs like the heart and lungs. It’s important to keep tabs on Tabby to make sure she isn’t packing on the pounds!
Regular checkups with your veterinarian can help you track your cat’s weight and if something is off, bloodwork may be able to reveal any underlying diseases that could be the cause. Frequently, it’s a matter of too many calories in and not enough calories out, just like it is for us. Monitoring your cat’s food intake, controlling portion sizes, feeding a high-quality diet, and keeping your cat active are all ways you can help him or her maintain an ideal weight.
Keep Track of Your Cat’s Eating Habits with the SureFeed® Microchip Pet Feeder Connect
The SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect from our friends at Sure Petcare offers a terrific way to help you monitor your cat’s eating habits and control portions. Using microchip-activated technology, the Feeder Connect can be programmed to allow access only for specific pets. When a pet approaches the feeder, if they have been given access, the clear lid slides open allowing access to the food. When the pet leaves the feeder, the lid slides closed, keeping food fresher inside.
Just like the Felaqua® Connect smart water bowl from Sure Petcare, the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect is part of the Sure Petcare ecosystem, connecting via the Hub to the Sure Petcare App. The app tracks when and how much each cat eats from the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect and tells you how much food is left. You can even use the built-in scale and LED portion lights to fill the feeder with just the right amount of food for your cat.

A beautiful and helpful product! Thank you for sharing.
We bought 2 of these feeders for our cats who need all the calories they can get. Unfortunately, a couple of our other cats are the ones getting the extra food. They sit and wait until the feeder is opened by the tagged cat and then push their way in and clean out what is left. Maybe I don’t have it set right, but it doesn’t close if there is a cat eating, even when the tagged cat walks away.
