Some products are all-time classics, and the SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post from Pioneer Pet is one of them! Every cat loves this scratcher, for rubbing, scratching, climbing and perching. The simple shape is sturdy and durable with a woven sisal scratching surface that really lasts. The top and bottom are easy to wipe clean and you can remove fur from the sisal with a lint brush or vacuum. Does your cat need a fresh scratching post for springtime?
The Ultimate Scratching Post is available directly from pioneerpet.com and from Amazon, Chewy and most other pet product retailers.

It can also be used as a long horizontal scratcher, if not bolted to the base. It’s the longest option that I’ve found for a horizontal sisal scratcher that isn’t wall-mounted. Particularly useful for cats that like to stretch out on the stairs and scratch the “back walls” of stair treads, or to wrap around the corners of cardboard scratchers and tear into the non-corrugated display sides.
We currently own several Ultimate Scratching Posts; however, we will not buy any more until the company sells replacement sisal wraps for the past. It is ridiculous & extremely wasteful to think one has to purchase a complete post in order to refresh the scratching surface. To hell SmartCat. They are planet unfriendly increasing waste fire an otherwise go structure.
Hi, Bill. Here’s some info from Pioneer Pet about why they don’t offer a replacement wrap:
To ensure the safety of our feline friends, the sisal covering is attached during the manufacturing process and therefore replacement fabric is not available. The post is manufactured by joining together two separate sisal covered pieces – this prevents any staples from being exposed as well as ensuring that the sisal fits snugly to the post. Replacing the sisal would entail breaking the post apart, which would damage it.
I could not agree more. Incredibly wasteful. They COULD design this to allow for replacement.
We’ve had one of these cat post for years and our cats love it! A top platform with thin red cushion is also available!
Simply the BEST, most durable, cat-attractive scratching posts made. We have two.
Sharing with gratitude.
My cat loves this post, but once the top corners get scratched ragged, there’s nothing you can do to extend its life. I tried taking it apart to turn the post upside down, but it’s not possible. I agree with Bill that they are wasteful and environment-hostile.
Why don’t you ever show the perch that goes with it?
