These elegant floating cat climbers are from Australian company Pryde Pets, a new player in the modern cat product industry who definitely has our attention. Pryde Pets recently launched with these innovative wall-mounted cat climbers designed to appeal to both cats and their humans.
Felt That’s Both Soft & Sturdy
The floating cat climbers are made with thick, industrial felt that’s manufactured from 100% recycled PET bottles. The felt is sturdy but with a soft touch that cats love to scratch and rub their faces on. Layered felt pieces attach securely to the wall with a powder-coated stainless steel wall bracket, creating a clean modern look while giving cats the perfect place to climb and perch.
Choose Your Style & Color
The Pryde Pets climber collection currently includes a short step shelf that’s 8.3″ wide, a longer shelf measuring 16.5″ wide and a cozy curved shelf, also 16.5″ wide, and all 8.7″ deep. Choose from Oatmeal or Charcoal, two great neutral options that are sure to match your decor. All three styles have optional facades, larger pieces of felt that can be attached to the front of the climber giving your cat a little more privacy, kind of like they are hiding behind the branches of a tree.
How To Plan Your Cat Climbing Wall
We installed some of the new Pryde Pets felt cat climbers in our entry area and I absolutely love how the wall turned out! The key to installing these cat climbers, and other similar wall-mounted cat shelves, is to carefully plan your design before you start installation. If you’re installing on drywall, like we did, you need to know where the studs are when planning the layout. We were lucky to have studs located 16″ apart, which is the standard but not always guaranteed.
Design On Paper or With Included Templates
I created this design using a 3D program but you can simply sketch something out once you know where the studs are. The climbers come with a set of paper templates that you can cut out and tape on the wall as you are designing. This is a very helpful step that allows you to plan the best layout for your cats.
Install In Wall Studs For Strength
Each of the Pryde Pets climbers requires that one of the anchor points go into a stud with the remaining points using the included wall anchors. This guarantees that the climbers will be sturdy enough for cats to jump on and off safely. The climbers also include hardware and instructions for installing on masonry walls. When properly installed the Pryde Pets climbers are designed to support up to 26 lbs. of dynamic weight.
Innovative Felt Construction
Once the wall brackets are securely attached, simply thread the felt slices onto the bracket, add the optional facade if using, and tighten the bolts. The felt creates a totally unique surface that has the perfect texture to keep cats from slipping and provides them with a soft surface, plus I love the clean modern look. You could purchase one Oatmeal and one Charcoal shelf in the same size and alternate the felt colors for a custom look. Lots of options to customize and create something unique for your home.
And as an added bonus, because this is synthetic felt made from recycled plastic and the wall brackets are powder-coated, you can hang the Pryde Pet climbers outside in a catio! The felt won’t shrink or expand like other materials when used outside, plus it’s UV stabilized so it won’t fade.
Love at First Sight
Our cats immediately fell in love with the new Pryde Pets climbers, checking out all the levels and rubbing their faces on everything. I’m thrilled with how the Oatmeal felt looks against our vintage 1970s wallpaper and I know the cats will get a lot of use out of this fantastic new climbing wall!

I see that it’s necessary to install into studs when using on drywall; but what about lath and plaster?
May your clowder get a lot of enjoyment out of these!
